Third Week In Mumbai

Its been just under 3 weeks since Ive come to India, and my time here has been incredible to say the least. I began work immediately since coming here and have been quite engrossed in the work culture and life here in Mumbai!
My days start at 6:30 with me rushing to get ready and catch the 7:30 train to the Chatraphathi Shivaji Terminus. The same train that my late grandfather took every day to his job at Sassoon dock in Mumbai (where my office is located). I end the days at around 10 or 11 after paying a visit to my grandmother and getting blessed with some of the most delicious food I think Ill have in my life.
I work at RMA architects in the Kala Ghoda (black horse) neighbourhood. It is a very intense and energetic firm with most of the work force being in their mid to late 20s. Indeed, my first few days were spent in catching up my work ethic to match the speed and passion that surrounds me at RMA! But now that I have my bearings it is quite an exciting experience to be working with such talent on some real cool projects!
The most amazing part of this journey had been working in such a familiar yet new country. I was born in Mumbai, and all of my close family was raised here, but much of the city and its intricacies are new to me. I have struggled with simple tasks such as buying headphones or catching a cab and yet figuring out how to accomplish those same simple tasks has brought me an incredible sense of accomplishment! I am able to see such a rich life being lived all around me, Mumbai is so vibrant and exciting and its an honour to be able to work here for the small time that I can.
I hope to share some fun stories with you as I continue my work here!

But in the brief time I do have I want to say that starting this job has been an incredible experience. I am getting the chance to learn so much, understand myself and understand a different kind of architecture.
The firm is very young and energeting and for the time being I am just trying to keep up with all the stuff thats going on here! I will post again soon to let you all know what im up to! (Hopefully I can figure out how to post some pictures too!

Creating this Website

Hey guys this is my first blog post on my website.
I had wanted to create a website for a very long time now. I've been working on this since the beginning of this year. My plan, initially, was to learn Wordpress and keep it easy for myself. I even, for a second, created a website on Squarespace (it literally took a second). Although no matter how hard I tried, I could never create something I was really proud of, something I really liked.
I dont really remember what exact moment I decided I wanted to learn HTML and CSS, or if deep down I always wanted the challenge and was trying to find any excuse to take it on. Nonetheless, by the beginning of April I was blindly riding full steam into the world of back-end web-development. I was, of course, not prepared for the incredible depth of the subject, nor did I pay heed to my utter lack of knowledge for coding. I was engrossed in absorbing Lynda tutorials, YouTube self-help and Googling like mad.
The process was lengthy and at times very frustrating. . . VERY FRUSTRATING. . . HOLY SHIT THIS THING WAS SO FRUSTRATING. BUT for every frustration I was awarded with a greater sense of accomplishment when I overcame it. I was able to create a website exactly like I wanted, no added bullsh*t. I know how and why everything works and looks the way it does. And finally, I have adopted a profound respect for coding, and all my software end/ compsci friends that do this as their thing.
I know now that creating this website will be a never ending process, but I am excited to begin. And I hope you guys are excited to join me on this journey as well!
